Poetry Reading – Malibu

Jane Rosenberg LaForge came back to us from Manhattan and did a poetry reading from her latest book, With Apologies To Mick Jagger, Other Gods, And All Women. The reading was at The Bank of Books, in Malibu friday afternoon. The event was standing room only, and happily for Jane’s publisher, the book sold-out.

The book is filled with poems that are deeply personal, poignant, funny and relatable. Most of all they are full of references about Jane’s family, her home in Laurel Canyon, her Jewish heritage and growing up in Hollywood in the 70s. For those of us who came of age in the same era and environs, it’s stunning to realize that pieces of your past have acquired enough of a patina to have become the stuff of art….or at least literature.
